Employee Spotlight: Alex Ungerleider, Service Sales & Account Manager
Alex Ungerleider
Alexandra Ungerleider grew up in Bayside, Queens and now lives in Edison, New Jersey with her husband and two young sons. They purchased her husband’s great-grandmother’s home a few years ago—what started as a practical decision turned into a great starter home for their family. A New Yorker at heart, Alex brings that energy with her wherever she goes.
She earned her BA in Child Psychology from Queens College with the original intention of becoming a school psychologist. But as she considered the long path of graduate education and the desire to start a family, she decided to take a different direction—one that still centered on people and communication, but through a new lens.
Alex entered the controls industry about ten years ago, starting out in accounting, then moving into purchasing and eventually sales. After returning from maternity leave with her second child, the small company she worked for dissolved. It was a difficult situation, but ultimately a blessing in disguise. Kunal Patel from TMBA reached out, and through her connection with Matt LaPorte, she was invited to interview for a service sales position. Just three weeks later, she was part of the team at TMBA. “The timing was kind of perfect,” she says.
As a Service Sales and Account Manager, Alex works closely with TMBA clients to ensure their service needs are met—whether it’s responding quickly to an emergency or checking in to make sure they’re getting the attention and follow-through they need. She sees her role as a kind of “BMS therapist,” someone who listens closely, helps customers navigate their concerns.
She’s been in this type of role for several years now and continues to enjoy the variety and relationship-building it offers. “I’m a people person,” she says. “I like getting to know our clients and developing a good rapport where they feel comfortable reaching out to me. It’s a balance of being friendly and professional—earning their trust.”
At TMBA, Alex says she appreciates the strong team dynamic and shared commitment to getting things done. “It’s a very solid group of people,” she explains. “Everyone helps each other out and takes pride in the work. There’s definitely a sense of support here.”
In service, no two days are the same—and that’s something Alex embraces. From last-minute issues to long-standing account needs, she and the team adapt quickly and focus on keeping customers informed and satisfied. “There are always challenges,” she says. “But we work through them, set expectations, and do what’s needed.”
Outside of work, Alex stays busy with her two sons, Matthew and Jacob, and her husband Mike, who she jokingly refers to as her third child. When she gets a break from Mom Mode, she enjoys going to Broadway shows, concerts, and finding fun events for the kids.
What many don’t know is that Alex used to be a trained opera singer, and later studied Flamenco singing, performing at recitals over the years. While that passion is on pause for now, she hopes to return to it once her children are a bit older.
For the time being, she’s focused on building strong client relationships, supporting her team, and being present for her family—bringing the same energy and care to all of it.
